Ingredients
  

  • 1 1⁄2 cups apple cider
  • 1⁄4 cup honey
  • 1⁄4 cup vermouth, brandy, or other hard liquor
  • Rind of one lemon, cut into strips
  • 1 green apple, sliced thin
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 bottle light dry red wine
  • 5 cloves

Instructions
 

  • Add the apple cider and spices to a saucepan; cover and simmer over low heat for 30 minutes. Let cool.
  • Mix in the alcohol and honey.
  • Add the apple slices to serving glasses.
  • Pour the sangria mixture into the glasses and top off with red wine.
  • Serve warm.
